As I work with clients and colleagues and as I do my own work as an entrepreneur intent on "living into" my authentic purpose and vision I often find the issue of clarity coming up again and again. How?
Many people with whom I speak share some dissatisfaction with the results they are getting from their visioning, marketing or leadership. Some are dissatisfied with the process they've been using, which don't seem aligned with vision and values. Almost all have a sense that what they envision what they really want to see taking shape is not materializing, and what is taking shape is not something they're altogether thrilled with. There is a sense that something more fabulous, meaningful, purposeful, and joyful is possible
At the root of most such situations, there are two possibilities: there is either the need for greater cultivation and patience, or there is a lack of clarity that ripples outward and fosters murky or less than satisfying results.
Clarity is key, and it is not a one-time endeavor. This is what makes visioning, and checking in to regularly assess and refine and clarify your vision, so powerful. As we make progress, learn, gain more feedback, and evolve, we must revisit our vision of what is possible of what we truly want to take shape to ensure that it is clear, compelling, and energizing at any given time during the week, month or year.
Asking good questions is absolutely key; as the saying goes, "The quality of the questions dictates the quality of the outcomes." The right questions open us up to new ways of seeing, and new awareness of both our intuitive sense of purpose and the steps that will help us live into it.
From that place of close contact with our clear vision, we can more easily act with clear intention and confidence, as well as a greater sense of alignment and "flow", and thus create more clear results that are truly aligned with our sense of authentic purpose and vision.
Reflection Questions:
How clear are you really being about what you would like to make manifest in your business or your life?
Could it be that you have an opportunity to envision more clearly, and thus co-create more clear and compelling results?
How often do you set aside time to check in with or overhaul and update your sense of purpose and the vision that stems from it?
What kinds of questions are you asking, and how would you rate their quality (based on current reality and how you feel about it)?
What steps can you take today to (1) schedule some "purpose and vision" check-in time, and (2) begin to more consciously "live into" that purpose and vision?
