June 30, 2011 - Vol. 10, No. 14 Greetings! Are you an Agent of Bliss? It's the latest, hottest, coolest thing to be. And everyone has what it takes. Read on... Have you ever heard that saying, 'Follow your bliss'? Well, I've been taking a fresh peek into the whole 'Follow Your Bliss' thing recently, and wanted to share a few little Bliss Aha's with you. It's a nice idea, don't you think - Follow Your Bliss? It's compelling, inspiring, intriguing, and FUN to think that it actually might be possible to Follow Your Bliss - and BE an Agent of Bliss in the world. I don't know about you, but when I look around me, read the day's headlines about the latest carnage, following Bliss seems like the best idea yet. Ignoring our Bliss is definitely not working! Unfortunately, we live in a culture where we've been Left-Brain-Trained away from Bliss, so we may not even have a sense of what our Bliss is, much less that it's possible to follow it. As a result, for too many people, everyday experience -- including the average workday -- is nowhere near Bliss. That can change, though. "Follow your bliss" comes to us from the amazing, Bliss-following mythologist, Joseph Campbell. And if you've read or listened to interviews with him, the seemingly trite, possibly impossible "Follow your Bliss" quotation suddenly gets a whole lot more substantial. So really, 'Following Your Bliss' is an ancient idea -- and ancient Quest -- and modern, too. Campbell links the Bliss-following path to morsels of guidance offered up by the great myths, in a culture that (sorry to say) has become seriously myth-stupid. The good news is that we can become myth-savvy again, and get the gems from myths that help us to find the grail, see the shiny breadcrumb trail, and figure out not only how to follow our Bliss, but figure out what the heck our Bliss even is! One thing we need to know about The Bliss Thing... The keys to Bliss aren't in the intellect; we can't think our way to bliss. Bliss is not a 'thinky' Left-Brain kind of affair. In fact, an over-dominant Left-Brain is a Bliss Killer. So where do we find the keys to Bliss? The keys to Bliss are in the Garden of the Right Brain, sometimes called our Inner-Feminine realm. (That's also where creativity, inspiration, intuition, and other seriously good, juicy things live -- there we find our treasure!) And even better yet? There are clues -- breadcrumbs -- that can point us in the direction of our Bliss. That alone is pretty cool! It's all part of the Hero & Heroine's Journey (see the sidebar for more on that!). So what's your Bliss? Do you know the clues? Are you following it? As I said, I'm exploring my Bliss anew, and I'm really, really excited about this new Grail Quest of mine. Because when we find our Bliss -- heck, even if we're just focused on figuring out what our Bliss is and being on its hot little trail -- we spread that into the world. When we quest for and follow our Bliss, we become Agents of Bliss, and that's got to be a pretty blissful thing to be, whatever else we might be doing. I mean, really -- imagine what being an Agent of Bliss can do for your business, your relationship, your leadership, and your whole fab quality of life.
