Some of the events of recent history have reminded us, sometimes terribly, that there are individuals in the world who have a great capacity for deep hatred, and the evil acts that fear and hatred breed. And yet for every great shadow, there exists a bright light.

For every individual who has been severed from his or her connection from Unity, and from others, there is a person who has rediscovered his or her connection to Love, compassion, and All there is.

The great spirit of humanity shines as such a beacon, perhaps softly as it goes about its everyday business, or burning brightly in response to events such as those of September 11, 2001 and similar occurrences both before and since, whether caused by man or by natural events.

Where a few perpetuate hatred or undertake acts of great violence, many others rise up in unity, acting with mindfulness, generosity, tolerance, joy, love and compassion. Where the need becomes known, hearts open and compassion flows.

In everyday action, we can choose empathy, deep listening, compassionate communication, and other actions rooted in loving-kindness.
