What do you create, affirm, or attract with your words?
Russian-American Author, Ingrid Bengis, said that "Words are a form of action, capable of influencing change." She, like many for whom words are livelihood, knew their power. Similarly, another beloved writer, Ursula LeGuin, said "A writer, an artist whose medium is words, is likely to find the idea of ...words as power, a quite natural one."
But writers aren't the only ones who know the power of words - wise men and women throughout history have known, and more recently, physicists have come to the same conclusion.
The quirky little movie, What The Bleep Do We Know?, featured several physicists talking about the power of word and thought -- vibrations both -- to positively or negatively affect reality.
Scientific research has shown that harsh words and music aimed at plants, for example, caused the plants to shrink back from the sender. Ugliness aimed at water resulted in murky water crystals, as compared to the bright, crisp formations that resulted from loving or positive words and music.
The same happens when loving and uplifting -- or harsh and negative -- words, music, thoughts or emotions are sent outward.
If your habit is to think or speak in terms of negation -- "That will never happen;" I hate that;" "I'm not lucky at all;" "Why isn't anything happening for me?" -- what might you expect in return?
Grace, of course, is always present and possible, but might it not be even more sensible to re-train our habitual harsh, critical, or negating patterns with more affirmative ones -- "Anything is possible;" "Good things happen all the time;" "I'm noticing small signs of progress each day;" "I believe..."
Watch your words. Notice your thought patterns. What are you creating? What are you sending forth to affect others?
