Ivy Sea's Graceful-Transformation Resources
FLOWING MORE SKILLFULLY WITH CHANGE
Change and transformation seem to be more and more a part of everyone's experience, and certainly this is the case not just in large organizations, but also for the small-business owner or SOHO/SoloPreneur, and for many individuals. As the saying goes, "Change is the only constant." And right now, the energies of transformation are magnified and accelerated.
When you're in the midst of change whether you've envisioned and planned it or find it upon you without warning you can find yourself challenged on a number of fronts. Sure, it's a challenge from a business perspective, but it's also a mind, body and spirit challenge. And at the more difficult moments, when nothing seems to be taking root or blooming for you? When vision seems lost or hard to access?
As Lao Tzu wrote, these are the times when, "The right path seems dim; going forward seems hard; the highest virtue seems empty."
For a larger group undergoing a planned change, the journey of transformation can be daunting. For a small-business owner or SOHO/SoloPreneur, a significant transformation or change can be, in many ways, like starting the business all over again. Of course, rarely is this little 'secret' revealed in most business journals, which often make the mistake of representing change as something that you can simply envision, neatly plan, and then do one, two, three; simple as can be. Well, if that's the case, you're not changing much!
Anyone who has navigated a change before knows that there are so many things you can't anticipate no matter how brilliantly you planned. In fact, many seeming delays or obstacles, in retrospect, are often revealed as blessings in disguise!
Effectively navigating a change, then, requires not just skill in the initial visioning, planning, and checking things off of the to-do list. In addition to the 'smart start', skillful, effective change also requires:
a constant re-centering in a 'living vision',
a practice that allows for mind, body and spirit balance so that you don't fatigue and lose connection to vision and motivation;
a flexibility to notice and assess what comes up along the way;
an ability to integrate new insights and feedback into vision and plan;
and an ability to stick with it change takes a committed effort!
Another secret is to find ways to enjoy the journey, so that it's not just a hard slog from 'Point A' to 'Point B', but a more organic tapestry that you weave, all the while enjoying the experience.
