Yet, in these times, the old saying that 'change is the only constant' seems to be an understatement. Radical and perpetual change appears to be the real norm, for many reasons. This constant, significant vibration of change creates a sense of tension which many people find stressful, and a few people find exciting.
Change and transformation are natural; we resist and feel anxious about it because we've been taught that consistency and stability are somehow 'better', and that change is dangerous and can and should be avoided. So we expend a lot of energy running from here to there (mentally and/or literally) with the 'duct tape and chicken wire' trying to hold together that which wants to fall apart, deconstruct, and become something else.
Fortunately, we have two excellent 'teachers' in these times when change is a reality, and major transformation just isn't happening it's actually vital and necessary.
First, Nature is a great teacher about natural cycles, and the wisdom of change and transformation.
And secondly, creative people who have fully surrendered to their own creative nature and the creative process can teach us a lot about the wisdom of change and how to navigate it gracefully. Creativity doesn't occur without the tension of change and the 'void' between what was and what is becoming.
Ultimately, while change requires us to let something else die or leave something behind, it also opens up to new and wonderfully creative possibilities that might otherwise never be realized. Change and transformation are evidence of 'life'.
