A colleague of mine offers very wise reminders that there is much evidence for Grace working in our lives, and if we would only look for it, we would see it everywhere.

It's a wonderful concept — collecting evidence for Grace — and quite different from what we might otherwise be inclined to do. Too often, we can fall into a pattern of collecting evidence for victimization, or cataloguing all of the ills done to us or the bad luck we've encountered or the horrible things happening in the world.

It's not a matter of ignoring challenges, or not facing tough realities, but many of us succumb to the temptation (and programming) to 'work the problem' and ruminate on it. And the list of ills and wrongs and imperfections grows as our attention to it lingers.

Yet there is also evidence for something else, something more hopeful, and even — and this can be shocking — efficient and effective. That's Grace.

Opening to Grace orients us in the present moment, where both Grace and 'right-brained' or Feminine gifts of intuition, wisdom, insight, and creative ideas flow.

In practicing presence and being receptive, we open to these gifts.

By making a point to collect evidence for Grace, we're simply making a commitment to notice what's working in our lives, what we can be grateful for, what's going our way, what's good in the world, what wonderful things people are creating and writing and doing, and what wonders might be awaiting our attention ... if only we'd look their way.
