There's actually no shortage of stories about how one person, one moment, one action, one word can make an enormous difference. In our own life journeys, we're sure to have such examples, as well. And yet for many people with the demands of work and home, the seemingly increasing pace of life, and the scope of issues on the world stage it can too easily make us question just how much difference one person can make.
This is why, when asking such questions, we have to stop looking outwardly and begin to bring our attention closer to home to our own days, and our own minds, bodies, and Spirits. Such a concept is aligned with Gandhi's statement, "You must be the change you wish to see in the world," or Mother Theresa's quip, "If you want to change the world, pick up a broom."
Both Mahatma Gandhi and Mother Theresa like many others were more or less "normal people, just doing their jobs," when the opportunities arose and they rose to the occasion not always perfectly, and very often in smaller ways, and day by day decisions and actions, that added up to the Lifetime's achievement that we know them for today. Those were their paths, their journey, their purposes.
And it's not only those whom, in restrospect, we view as spiritual leaders that have the power of impact. There are transformational leaders and agents rising up in every sector of the world, and within all professions, from teachers and doctors, to corporate leaders and writers, to ministers and small-business people. Each of us has our own path, purpose, and unique "along the way" opportunities to spread the Light, as well. The difference that only we can make, and the "us" that only we can be.
Be reminded of one thing: one person can make a lot of difference. And any one of us can be the person who does, the leader who does, the entrepreneur who does, the writer who does, and so on. There are many ways, all within your reach. It just begins with a conscious choice to make a positive impact, and unfolds from there.
