Make today an appreciation day
Imagine if everything that you appreciate about your colleagues disappeared tomorrow. Your organizations culture would be stripped of its value, and you would never have another chance to recognize their work. Unfathomable, you say? Well, think again.
Many studies have shown that employees value things like recognition for a job well done, the opportunity to work with people they like, the chance to grow and expand their skills, the ability to contribute something positive to the organization and the world. Often, these sorts of "soft" perks outrank monetary compensation on an employee's priority list.
Tip
Take advantage of your power to make the workplace culture more pleasant and supportive. This week, genuinely tell or show a colleague that you appreciate a specific thing that he or she does.
