Cultivating an attitude of (dare we say it) gratitude

Cynics, beware! You’re surrounded by blessings and we’re going to make you think about it! Not to worry, Dedicated Grouches — there’s something in it for you. Actually, when you choose to see what’s going well around you, instead of focusing on everything that’s rotten and wrong, it’ll have a positive effect on your communication with others (not to mention your health).

Practical application:

As you plan your day, identify something positive that can come out of each meeting, conversation or assignment on your schedule. Write it down in your planner or activity log. After the activity, write down two positive things that you can carry from it. Review your list at the end of the day. By spending five minutes at the beginning and end of each day, you’ll not only improve your state of mind, you’ll see new opportunities to help you enjoy your workday more fully.
